North Ayrshire Council wants walking and cycling to be the natural choice for people to make for their everyday journeys in Kilwinning. To makes this a reality, funding has been secured from the Places for Everyone programme to improve walking and cycling routes through Blacklands Recreation Ground and surrounding area. The aim is to create convenient continuous, off-road walking and cycling routes across the greenspace, to connect neighbourhoods to the town centre, schools, and other local destinations.
To help us develop the proposals for the Blacklands recreation ground, we want to understand how local people use the area, and what they would like to see improved. At the same time, we want to know about other active travel improvements that you would like to see across Kilwinning.
This website will be the main source of information throughout the project. The engagement will take place in February and March 2020. Based on the comments and suggestions we receive, we will prepare design proposals during April-May 2020. Following that we intend to publish draft concept designs and seek feedback on them.
Tell us what you think
If you live, work, do business or travel in and around Kilwinning, tell us what you think. We want to hear your views on the issues you experience walking and cycling in the area, things that need to be sorted, and suggestions. Visit the Get Involved page to give us your feedback.
During March, we will be running a public event to give you the chance to talk to our team in person. Visit the News and Events page for more details, and keep an eye on North Ayrshire Council and local social media channels for more information.
